Sun glasses: Maui Jim Titanium Sport Sun glasses review Maui Jim Kapalua Titanium Sport glasses

I'm a freak about good quality lenses for my cameras, and equally as picky about the lenses in the sunglasses that protect my eyes. Comfort and protection are key elements for me so the Maui Jim Titanium sport Kapalua is my choice. They are super lightweight, and the optics are fantastic.

The rimless hingeless temples are fashioned from strong, flexible titanium alloy and combined with impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses. They weigh just eleven grams. Maui Jim's has something called CLEARSHELL™ coating which supposedly resists scratches and scuffs, but nonetheless, I treat these things carefully and always place them in the case when not in use.

In terms of lens color, I choose the "Maui Rose" rather than the gray. The Maui Rose lens offers the sharpest contrast and image resolution plus the unmatched glare protection of Polarized Plus. This particular lens is excellent for fast action activities, low light conditions, and for people who prefer a subtle rose hue for everyday wear. Of course, these lenses also provide 100% UV protection.

After about 4 years of use, my first pair started to develop tiny stress cracks near the screws that hold the lenses onto the nose piece. I contacted Maui Jim, then sent the glasses to their facility in Peoria Illinois. A few days later a brand new pair showed up at my doorstep. Maui Jim exceeded my expectations and now I recommend them to everyone !

At over $200, they are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but comfort and exceptional optical quality is something that I am willing to pay for.
