Fire Scripps Ranch Monday, Oct. 27, 2003
Morning, day two, I returned to the area around Fairbrook road. It was eerily quiet and still as the morning light began to reveal the extent of the carnage that had occurred the day before. Small fires still smoldered, the air was now thick with the smell of burning plastic, rubber and wood....you could literally taste the air. A few birds flitted among the ruins but other than that, the entire place seemed utterly lifeless.
