It was a misty morning in town, so I headed uphill to escape the low clouds. About
4 miles away I reached a small town just above the fog. At the end of the
street, bathed in the day's first rays of light was a withering old adobe church.
Its heavily damaged facade, crumbling, yet refusing to yield, seems testament to
the strength of a people whose fortitude still prevails in the face of centuries
of hardship.
"Permanence,
perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and
impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul
from the weak." -Thomas Carlyle-
