    Therevada Buddhism, the professed religion of more than 90% of all Thais casts strong influences on daily life. This monk at the Grand Palace chanted a prayer, then placed a flower as an offering. Even small Buddhist temples sustain monastic communities, where most Thai men spend at least several months as a novice monk.
