Heber Vega is a humanitarian worker and photographer. He’s originally from Chile but now based in northern Iraq doing humanitarian work. Heber has a very informative blog and website. Currently, he’s doing a series of interviews called “10 Questions”, it’s about photographers who shoot for NGOs (non-government humanitarian organizations).
He has interviewed several different photographers, and last week interviewed me. He just posted the text and pictures on-line, this morning. If you would like to see the interviews and learn more about photographers who shoot for NGOs click here.
Good stuff, Karl! I really enjoyed the interview. I can totally see the influence of Steve McCurry in your work. I’m just finishing up an upper division photography class at SDSU and we had to do an oral presentation on a photographer – I chose James Nachtwey. Was it you that I sat with at his “War Photographer” screening at MoPA or was that another MoPA event? I’m guessing it was. It made an impact on me, that’s for sure. It was great to have the opportunity to share his work with those that might not be familiar with it. Incredible work. Speaking of which, so is yours. Congrats on the success with your photo tours, by the way! Very cool.
Hi Kat, Thanks so much for your nice comments and compliments. It must have been someone else that you saw War Photographer with, I watched it at home. Amazing stuff, Nachtwey is amazing. I would have loved to hear your oral presentaion on him…bummer. Anyway, I hope you’re well..it is so coincidental that just today I had been on your website, which by the way is totally cool. Keep up the great work!
Cheers. Karl
Hi Karl,
Congratulations on the interview. Your answers were great.
I’ll be back in San Diego in July. If you’re around then I hope we can get together…Jim too.
In the meantime I’ll continue to enjoy reading your blog.
Take care,
Cathy
