Myanmar was blocking my blog posts, so even though the tour is now in Cambodia, I’ll be adding some blog posts about the Myanmar trip and then finally getting around to posting the Cambodia (Angkor Wat) extension.
From our base in Mandalay we set out to photograph some Buddhist temples and monestaries. The rainy conditions really helped make our photos interesting! Above I noticed a worker taking a shower under a downspout at one of the temples. Using a slow shutter speed 1/10th of a second, and a bit of underexposure, the shot has a soft and “saturated feel” (no pun intended).
Most of the guests on the tour either had rain covers for their cameras, or used shower caps taken from our hotel, to keep the rain off of our gear. Cameras and lenses vary greatly in their ability to resist water damage. Generally speaking, the pro bodies and lenses can tolerate normal to light rain and not sustain damage. For the shots shown here, I’m shooting Nikon D3S’s with a 17-35 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8
Karl,
It’s been a while since I perused your site/blogs. LOVE these. The show shutter speeds. And just the feeling of a rainy day, wherever you are!
