We’re at Pushkar Camel Fair now. Just about to head out on our pre-dawn shoot. Here’s a shot from yesterday to hold you over until I can update later today.
Overnight in the small village of Luni, Rajasthan
Just one night here in Luni, before we proceed to Pushkar, but plenty of great photo opportunities. I seem to be stuck on a black and white kick, so here are a few more. Enjoy! Next blog update will be from Pushkar, if we have internet access.
Desert Camp Manvar
Sorry for no recent updates but we were in the middle of the desert, camping in Manvar and had no access to the internet. Now we’re in Luni and I’ve got a few minutes to update things! I’m showing all black and white images for this post. Sometimes black and white seems to capture the mood best. In the lead image, as well as the man smoking, I feel that the black and white is more engaging than the color images. Each photo was shot in black and white and I removed the color using Photoshop.
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan’s Golden City
We arrived in Jaisalmer two nights ago but I am just now getting time and an internet connection so I can post some images and get caught up. I’ll try to post some EXIF data and comments as soon as possible.
Jodhpur continued….
Here’s more from Jodhpur India, what an amazing place! It’s certainly one of my favorite photo locations on the planet, and this year it seems that the blue is even more vibrant.
Morning Photo Walk: Jodhpur
I’m headed out the door for our shoot at the Mehrengarh Fort, but wanted to share some images from this morning’s photo walk in my favorite section of Jodhpur’s oldest and “bluest” section. All these shots were made with my 17-35 F 2.8. I’ll add some from my 70-200 later today. If you’re wondering why I started with the old car shots; it’s because my brother is an antique car collector. www.stevegrobl.com
India, Pre-Tour, Participant Images
This year’s India photo tour started with a “pre-trip” extension to Varanasi and Agra. We had the opportunity to have Joan Everds, a well known photographer from San Diego, her daughter Nancy, an avid bird photographer and her husband Peter, an all around great guy and bird expert. They joined our pre-trip extension after photographing birds in southern India.
India Photo Tour Arrives in Jodhpur
Today was basically a travel day, but we did squeeze in one photo shoot this evening at my favorite vantage point below the Mehrangarh Fort…
New Delhi Photo Shoot
Today we spent the day in Delhi, first visiting the Jama Masjid, the largest Mosque in New Delhi, then we took a quick cycle-rickshaw ride through the old market to Chandi Chowk, a bustling business/market street to visit the Sikh temple. After photographing the Sikh temple we had a delicious lunch and ended our day with a one-hour shoot at Quatab Minar.
Photo Tour Arrives in Agra
Late last night we arrived in Agra. Today we had some photo instruction and image sharing in the morning, then headed over to the Red Fort. We finished the day at the back side of the Taj Mahal. Due to unusually hazy conditions, the lighting was not so favorable for architecture shots today, but we did find some great portrait subjects and some amazing light for people photography!
