My brother told me about this service which he saw on Yahoo finance. I checked it out. Here’s how it works: Pick up your (USA based) phone, dial a local number, listen to a 15 second advertisement, then place a free overseas 10 minute call. No sign ups, no email required, no passwords….all you have to do is sit through an advertisement prior to making your call.
The call is limited to 10 minutes but hey, it’s free to you because the advertisers are paying. It’s kind of a cool idea if you need to make short calls overseas to make hotel reservations or chat briefly with someone. There is a list of 50 countries that you can make free calls to land lines, and only 6 countries that you can make free calls to cell phones.
Unfortunately, many of the countries that I work in are not on the list, but I am hoping the list grows as time passes.
