Our first annual Philippines Photo tour started today, on Philippine’s Independence day.
We visited historic Intramuros and Quiapo. The streets of Manila are full of the most friendly, warm and charming people that you will ever have the pleasure to meet. As our photo tour group moved along; at every turn we were greeted with broad smiles and the typical Filipino greeting “mabuhay”, meeting, hello!
Rather than spend a lot of time giving you detailed information about where we were or about the photographs that I made today I’m just going to post some images below. Tomorrow, I hope to give you a little bit more information about the images and About this wonderful place. Unfortunately, I’m finding myself struggling with the transition from my familiar PC to my new Mac computer. I’m also perplexed as to a quick and simple way to output images from Adobe Light Room in the proper size for this blog.

Hi Don, thanks for the comment.
I’ll try and take care of your girls…their luggage showed up last night, no doubt due to your efforts.
Cheers,
Karl
Good morning Karl,
The photos look good. Manila is a very cool place with lots of photo ops. Question… What made you change over to a Mac and Lightroom? I have been using Lightroom now for about a year but on PC. I like it for the fact of speed. I now do very little work in CS4. Keep up the good and have fun Manila.

I am following both your accounts of the Phillipines and Anietra’s. I hope Anietra and Robbie dont miss any more planes; or did they just get on the wrong one? Anyway, they had a good excuse to go shopping for new clothes. I assume that if they find some good shopping bargains, they could even lose their bags again or, at least many of the clothes they brought with them. I know a woman who travels to India often–she is a former stewardess–and as soon as she arrives she gives everything away. She is not, though, a philantropist. Her intention is only to buy all new clothes and return home with a new wardrobe.

Hi Karl
You have been a great source of inspiration to me. I like your style and you seem to be engaged and genuinely interested in your subjects – which shows in your great images. I am just finishing my 7 month stint photographing Vietnam and Cambodia, so am familiar with the places that you visit.
Is it true – somebody said you only shoot jpegs? Do you post process your pic’s at all? They look very natural and not over processed like many people who do a similiar work to yourself. I seem to spend ages wading through my raw images and squinting into photoshop to get that perfect look – I hate that – I would rather be out taking more pics. Maybe you have a better way?
Keep up the good work and take care.

Phillip, thanks for the nice compliment. Yes, it’s true I shoot JPEG. Mostly I show what’s straight out of the camera, but sometimes I do a bit of burning to bring out the blacks.
I’ll bet you had a great time in Vietnam and Cambodia…wow 7 months, that must have been awesome! Do you have some photos posted? I would love to see them.
Cheers,
Karl
Great to get a personal response from you Karl. Yes some of my pic’s are up on my website. I have many more to go and some that are there I have to fine-tune again. However, you are welcome to have a look at what is there.
