With a fantastic group of enthusiastic photographers from around the United States and the world, we’re now into the first few days of the 2016 India: Gujarat & the Malabar Coast photo tour. Our first stop was Mumbai where we photographed Dhobi Ghat Mumbai’s oldest and largest outdoor laundry service. Next we explored Dhavari slum, photographing the many recycling activities going on in this bustling community. Dhavari has one of the highest human densities on earth with more than 10,00 people per acre. In Mumbai, we also visited Crawford market. Completed in 1869, Crawford market quickly became the largest wholesale market in Bombay. In 1882, the building was the first in India to be lit up by electricity. In 1996, Bombay’s wholesale market was moved to New Mumbai and Crawford market continued but as a much less frenetic marketplace . Enjoy the following 16 images, from the first day of the Jim Cline Photo Tours 2016 India: Gujarat and Malabar Coast Photo Tour.
