After several photography intensive days in Jaisalmer, the next stop on the 2015 India: Pushkar Fair Photo tour was Manvar; a semi-private tent encampment in the middle of the desert. At Manvar we enjoyed luxurious tented accommodations, nightly cultural shows and jeep safaris out to local villages where friendly photogenic subjects are plentiful. Following our stay at Manvar camp we proceeded to fort Khejarla situated in a small rural town. Fort Khejarla offers us the unique experience of staying in a 400-year-old fort/castle made of red sandstone. The structure is a mesmerizing example of the architecture of the Rajputs which transports guests back in time to experience what the majesty of a long gone era might have been like. The small town surrounding the fort is alive with the hustle and bustle of local merchants and craftsman going about their daily life. We spent just one night at the Fort before heading to Pushkar, the centerpiece of our India photo experience. Below you will find 20 images from Fort Khejarla, a place which I consider to be one of the hidden gems of our photo tour.
