From Mandalay we traveled to Bagan, a 30 square-mile plain, part-covered in palm trees and tamarind with the mighty Irrawaddy river slicing through it; framed by distant mountains. Rising from the plain are more than 2000 temples that were built by the kings of Bagan between 1057 and 1287. In addition to the opportunity to photograph the beautiful landscapes here we were also visited markets and workshops, bustling with activity.
In both Mandalay and Bagan, arts and crafts are abundant. We visited lacquer shops, gold leaf making shops and some of the most amazing local markets in the entire country. Below you’ll find 21 images. Enjoy.

Every time you post, it feels like a gift.
Thank you.
Peace.
Well put, Erin. I completely agree! The hands in this set are wonderful. I especially like the translucency of the marble captured in no. 6.
Stunning photos Karl! Not only representing these amazing cities, but also daily life aspects which are the beauty of Myanmar!
I like the hands and eyes of the one holding the camera. Great work.
Thanks Ruti!
