P ushkar Mela (or Pushkar Fair) is an annual camel and livestock fair, held in the town of Pushkar in the State of Rajasthan, India. Thousands of camels are traded each year at the fair which has been going on for three centuries. The Pushkar Fair draws thousands of camera toting tourists, camels and livestock traders. Locals and Hindu faithful come to bathe in sacred Pushkar Lake during the full moon (which takes place during the fair).
The annual Pushkar Fair is a photographer’s paradise, offering so many photo opportunities that perhaps the most difficult thing about photographing this epic event, is the incredible sensory overload. With so much going on and so many photographic possibilities, sometimes it tough, deciding what to shoot!
