The 5th Annual Angkor Photo Workshop has reached the half-way point; we’ve arrived in Phnom Penh and just now, I’m finally getting the opportunity to post some images. During our first week in Siem Reap, the 5 participants worked enthusiastically and diligently to create their own visual narrative. Each workshop student delved deep into a visual story of their own choosing; one chronicling the life of a street vendor, another choosing to tell the story of an Apsara dancer, still another to reveal the daily life of a tuk tuk driver, and two participants worked to document the people and programs of a local NGO / School.

To say the least, it was a whirlwind week, but we did actually take several days off to visit the temples of Angkor and to make a foray out to a stilted village out on the Tonle Sap lake.

Next year, I’m going to expand the workshop to include 12 participants and two instructors, rather than just myself. I’ll be leading next year’s workshop with well known, photo tour leader and Travel and Stock Photographer, Jeremy Woodhouse. If you’re interested in improving your photography and your visual story telling skills, have a look at the details for next year’s Angkor Photo Workshop by clicking over to Jim Cline Photo Tours.

Below is a selection of about 25 images that I was able to capture, during the first week. I’ll be blogging more from Phnom Penh and Battambang, as we continue our adventure. Cheers, Karl
