Photo Tour Arrives in Agra

Late last night we arrived in Agra. Today we had some photo instruction and image sharing in the morning, then headed over to the Red Fort. We finished the day at the back side of the Taj Mahal. Due to unusually hazy conditions, the lighting was not so favorable for architecture shots today, but we did find some great portrait subjects and some amazing light for people photography!

smoker, back side of Taj Mahal

I saw this man smoking at the back side of the Taj Mahal. Having shot smoking before I knew that in order to accentuate the smoke, I needed to place my subject on a dark background, so I crouched down in a position where I could place him on the background of the tree behind him. All I had to do was to wait for him to exhale.

I’m always looking at eyes, and when I see someone with unusually beautiful eyes, I find it hard to resist asking for their photo. The shot below was no exception. I noticed this girl’s hazel colored eyes, smiled, motioned with my camera, and she agreed. I shot perhaps a dozen frames, and found this to be the best one.
