I’ve received several emails from people requesting a blog post from this year’s Angkor Photo Workshop. Although the workshop is now finished, I’m just now getting a chance to blog about it.

So, with my first bit of free-time in what seems like a long time, I wanted to take the opportunity and share with you, a short multimedia slideshow created by Angkor Photo Workshop participant Karen O’Hern.

Karen combined her beautiful images of a traditional Cambodian Apsara dancer posing in some of the most photogenic temples around Siem Reap, with a soundtrack of traditional Khmer music. The result is an excellent example of how still images and sound come together to create a captivating presentation.

To view Karen’s slideshow click the play button above. Bravo and thanks to Karen for providing us a wonderful visual journey into Cambodia’s historic and present day beauty.

During the Angkor Photo Workshop, Karen completed her NGO assignment with an organization which provides water filters and wells to impoverished families. Additionally Karen did several other photo stories, including a project she spearheaded, about “acid victims” after she received a lead from a family member who had visited Siem Reap several years ago.

Karen’s NGO story and her 2-part acid victim story, which began in Siem Reap, and ended in Phnom Pehn are currently only available for viewing on her “private blog”, but they will likely be published publicly within the next few months. I’ll keep you posted.

To see more of Karen’s work, visit her website.

First of all, my apologies for running behind schedule.
