Our photo tour took us from Hanoi to Halong city to catch our private Chinese Junk to Cat Ba Island. Along the road from Hanoi to Halong City we took the opportunity to stop and photograph the farms and farmers who work the land along the road.<\/p>\n

The above image\u00a0 by tour participant Glenn Bacon of Tucson Arizona, caught me in the act of using my 17-35 to make the image of the woman in the cabbage field looking up. The image, similar to my image which won USAID’s Frontline photo contest (see previous post) was made by holding my camera overhead and relying upon auto-focus to get the shot. The overhead angle or perspective can be quite powerful and interesting. I encouraged my tour participant to try the technique and many were able to capture interesting similar images. Thanks again to Glenn Bacon for capturing the shot which helps me to explain this technique.<\/p>\n
