We left arrived in Jaipur and everyone enjoyed a free day to catch up on downloading, backing up and editing all of the images that we shot during the Pushkar Fair. The following day we went out to photograph the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), Amber Fort, the City Palace and the Jantar Mantar (solar observatory). Our first stop was the Hawa Mahal. Having visited many times, I was looking for a new twist on a much-photographed, iconic structure. First I tried laying on the ground up against the railing that separates the sidewalk in front of the facade and the roadway. I could just barely fit it in the frame using my 17-35mm 2.8, but I it wasn’t wide enough to capture the feet of folks walking past, so I went on the other side of the railing (with my butt in traffic) and placed my camera on the ground, pointing up. After a few test shots, I had the position figured out and then, as pedestrians walked past, I shot several frames, trying to get the foot position the way I liked it. The policeman above was my best result.<\/p>\n
