Woman Cusco
Her name is Eulalia, she sells hand made dolls on the streets of Cusco. She has a warm, friendly, quietly persistent way about her, "maybe tomorrow you buy something," she'd
say. In a small shop next to La Compania they sell travel books. Perusing the shelves, the Footprints Peru Handbook caught my eye. On the cover was Eulalia, beaming, the
perfect goodwill ambassador for Peru. Later that day I found her near the town square and asked her about it. She said she had seen the book but didn't have a copy. While my wife
talked to her, I slipped away and purchased the book. By the time I returned, several other vendors had gathered 'round. When I presented Eulalia the book, tears welled in her eyes. |
