After nearly three decades of civil war, the Khmer Rouge are no more. Pol Pot is dead, other aging leaders have been arrested or pardoned, and the remaining Khmer Rouge soldiers have defected to the Government side. Things are looking good. Tourism is opening up and the temples of Angkor are back on traveler's itineraries. Will things stay calm? ...Elections are scheduled for July 2003, let's hope that things continue to improve and that the Cambodian people find the peace and freedom they desire and deserve.
