In
1998 FCI/Bolivia completed a safe motherhood needs assessment in the Department
of Beni (Amazon Basin of Bolivia) in collaboration with UNICEF and the
local Division of Gender. The objectives of the needs assessment were
to evaluate the capacity of the local health facilities to provide quality
maternal health services and to evaluate community understanding of key
maternal health issues in this department.
