Haiti's population suffers with absolute poverty, malnutrition, unsustainable population density, environmental overload, political unrest and a burgeoning HIV/AIDS epidemic. There should be little more than despair in Haiti, but it seems as though every Haitian you meet reveals an uncanny sense of hope and determination to create a better life. Women, empowered by Freedm From Hunger's "Credit with Education" program start small businesses. Soon they begin to earn money to support their families. It is heartwarming to see the incredible sense of pride and accomplishment as these women become successful and begin to repay thier loans.
