Land mines in Cambodia kill or injure at a rate of more than two people each day. In 2001, 173 people were killed and 640 were injured. This legacy of three decades of war have taken a severe toll on the Cambodian people; currently some 40,000 people live as amputees, one of the highest rates in the world.
