Several times each
week, Dr. KC sets out on the "bamboo train" to visit rural areas not
accessible by road. The "bamboo train" runs on narrow gauge tracks built
by the French in the 1920's. Since removing land mines placed along
the tracks by the Khmer Rouge, local residents have built dozens of
miniature "trains". These "trains" consist of bamboo platforms
attached to old tank axles, powered by small motorcycle engines. For
little more than $2, KC loads up his equipment and his local staff people
and sets out on a mission.
